400 level courses
DESI 419 – Strategic Design
The course consists of weekly lectures and project workshops. Lectures will cover current strategic design theory and frameworks and workshops will engage wth an industry based strategic design project.
The expected output is a Strategic Design Plan – an extensive report that focuses on helping companies to understand current contexts and which explores design concepts and their potential for innovation and implementation.
DESI 429 – Special Topic in Design Studies
Rigorously investigate a particular area of design interest in depth.
DESI 433 – Interdisciplinary Design Studio
The course is based around a group project incorporating interdisciplinary subjects into a design project.
DESI 436 – Design Collaboration
The course is composed of seminars and tutorials organized into two main project modules. The collaborative design process will include planning, execution, reflection and reporting stages.
DESI 480 – Research Project
This is the research project for the PGDipCApSc and could lead to a master’s thesis year. It is expected that at least 8 hours per week be spent on this project.
DESI 490 – Research Project
This is the honours year project paper and could lead straight to a PhD. It is expected that at least 16 hours per week be spent on this project.
DESI 495 – Research Project
This paper is part of a two-year Masters programme. It is expected that at least 8 hours per week be spent on this project.
DETE 408 – Advanced Design Analysis
This course is based around an intense numerical research project for DETE (Hons) students.
